Major Events This Week
- House of Representatives (HoR) Speaker Agila Saleh held a session of the HoR, with the body voting to ratify the 4+4 Agreement. Only around 30 of the nearly 200-member body were present for the vote. However, Saleh notified the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) that the HoR had fulfilled its end of the agreement, with the UN officially acknowledging the vote.
- The Petroleum Facilities Guard shut some oil delivery valves at the Zawiya Refinery in an apparent protest over pay. The National Oil Corporation has threatened force majeure if the issue is not resolved, while also saying that total Libyan production has been only minimally impacted.
- Teachers in western Libya protested at the beginning of the new school year, demanding higher salaries. The Government of National Unity (GNU) has not acknowledged the strike, with many schools yet to officially open.
